The SolarRaptor HID-Lamp is a modern UV-lamp based on the latest technology of a high pressure metal vapor lamp.

With about 70,000 Lux at a distance of 30 cm, it reaches the natural range of the sun.

This is many times more than is the case with fluorescent tubes, spot lamps or mixed light and metal halide lamps.

The aluminum body dispatches excess heat and protects the spotlight from overheating. The additionally integrated reflector increases the light output many times over. Due to the hard glass used, no dust can burn into the spotlight, which would retain the radiation.

The SolarRaptor HID-Lamp is our power lighting and helps you to provide your terrarium animals with the best possible care. The SolarRaptor HID-Lamp sets new standards in the areas of UV stability, lifetime and daylight output and convinces not least because of the excellent manufacturing quality.

A linear solar spectrum up to 6300 K as well as a colour rendering index (CRI) of over 86 bring real sunlight into your terrarium and our HID-Lamp offers quasi natural light conditions, which supports the colour perception of your terrarium pets ideally and they are optimally supplied with vital UV-A and UV-B. This not only promotes vitamin D3 synthesis – which is a basic requirement for the healthy development of the bone structure or carapace of terrarium animals – but also the prevention of deficiency diseases.
The natural perception as well as appetite and willingness to mate are significantly increased by an adequate UV supply.
Last but not least, our SolarRaptor HID-Lamp is also a powerful heat source and ensures that your terrarium pets can live at real comfortable temperatures.

We recommend the operation in our Reptile ClampLamp in combination with the appropriate ballast for the respective input voltage – all from one source and matched to each other – directly from the manufacturer.

What you have to consider when operating the HID-Lamp:

  1. Let your SolarRaptor HID-Lamp “burn in”.
    When you use the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp for the first time, the lamp must be in operation for at least 2 hours continuously. By this “burn in” the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp is stabilized and you avoid later damages. Please never switch on the Solar Raptor only briefly for a test as long as it is not burned in.
  2. The SolarRaptor HID-Lamp needs a suitable ballast.
    Without a suitable ballast the HID-Lamp cannot be operated.
    Here our high quality SolarRaptor ECG’s are recommended.
  3. Use a ceramic socket (porcelain socket) and a protection basket.
    The high power of our SolarRaptor HID-Lamp provides of course also for heat development at the socket. Therefore it belongs only in a heat resistant porcelain socket (ceramic socket). If you do not consider this, you risk a dangerous melting through and a high band danger.
    The SolarRaptor HID-Lamp also belongs “behind bars”. A protective cage or a suitable protective grid ensures that your terrarium animals cannot come into direct contact with the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp. We recommend the operation in our Reptile ClampLamp.
    Important: Never mount the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp near easily inflammable objects.
  4. A sufficient ventilation must be ensured.
    Never cover the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp or the ballast unit. You must ensure good ventilation.
  5. Pay attention to the correct operating time.
    You can significantly extend the life of your SolarRaptor HID-Lamp if you observe certain operating intervals.
    Recommendation: Always leave the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp in operation for at least 8 hours before you switch off the terrarium lamp again.
    After 12 months at the latest with a daily operating time of about 12 hours, the SolarRaptor HID-Lamp should be replaced, because the UV values deteriorate significantly from this point on and your terrarium animals are no longer optimally supplied.

All SolarRaptor HID-Lamps have a normal E27 thread and are only as additional supply (UV/heat) for pets.
For room lighting or as a heat source in the household, the mixed light lamp is not suitable.

The Solar Raptor HID lamp is available in “Spot Beam” and “Flood Beam” versions.
The difference between the Spot Beam spotlights and the Flood Beam spotlights is the light cone, the so-called beam angle.
In the case of the spot beam UV emitters, this is bundled with a beam angle of 23.6° and emitted relatively straight downwards – ideal for integrating specific sunny spots. The flood beam UV emitters have a beam angle of 36.4°.

HID = High Intensity Discharge
PAR = Parabolic Aluminized Reflector

Latest light technology for high UV output, ideal for your terrarium lighting for plenty of daylight and cosy warmth.

IMPORTANT:
An electronic ballast is required to operate the SolarRaptor® HID lamp.
